Smarter animations with the Vizzu JS library

Dear Vizzu JS lib users! As you know, in recent weeks, our tools have undergone significant improvements, from enhanced animation control through new custom styling options to more precise timing. In this blog post, we will discuss a spectacular update - the smarter animations - that makes building smooth data stories and specifying their logic fundamentally easier. Let’s dive in!

Previously, when modifying categorical data series on your chart, you had to insert intermediate charts in order to make a fadeless transition. This time-consuming and cumbersome process limited the user experience since you had to find the exact temporary states and implement these additional visualizations.

With the latest version of the Vizzu JS library, you no longer need to worry about defining the intermediate states. To achieve smoother transitions, we improved our morphing engine, which now automatically handles any changes you made with your categorical data series.

Look at the difference between a previous example and this one, which we made with the new version:

This also means that from now on, Vizzu allows you to reorder your charts without limitations, no need to worry about confusing transitions.

Although our team is continuously working on the improvements, there are still transitions that are not perfect, and you may find signs of fading on them.
